The Old Courtyard

Situated at the heart of Fort Kochi, The Old Courtyard is built on a 200-year-old mansion that once belonged to the Koder family, one of the prominent Jewish families of cochin.

Way back in the late 1990s, Jacob and Rose found this old mansion to be the ideal spot to set up their dream heritage hotel in Fort Kochi. Jacob and rose put to use their education at Les Roches, a preeminent hotelier school in the Swiss Alps, and restored the mansion and redesigned it using the antique furniture and artifacts that they collected over time.

The Old Courtyard retains the original arches and pillars of the Portuguese-style architecture of the mansion and gave it a touch of modern-day comfort by upgrading the amenities.

Tea Bungalow

Tea bungalow is a heritage hotel in Fort Kochi run by the Dempo family of Goa. The bungalow was actually built in 1912 and functioned as a workshop and office of the UK based company called united Carpets. This company was involved in the manufacture and trade of coir and spices.

In 1956, this heritage bungalow was purchased by the tea manufacturers Brooke Bond. The Dempos took over the mansion from Brooke Bond and managed to successfully to turn this bungalow into a heritage hotel in Fort Kochi.

The Dempo family do not need any introduction in Goa where they have been in the exports of coconuts from the 16th to the 19th century. During those days their cargoes used to sail from Goa to the various African ports off Portuguese colony.

Their large and spacious rooms are minimally furnished to give an elegant vibe. The wooden flooring and ceiling keep the rooms naturally cooler and add to the traditional appeal.
