During a recent family trip to Munnar, I had the opportunity to explore Echo Point. Let me take you through a virtual journey of Echo Point Munnar, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the hill station.
Why is Echo Point in Munnar Named So
When we visited Echo Point, I thought it to be a peculiar name. Initially, I didn’t thing much of it until a shopkeeper there told me this interesting story behind its name. Echo Point in Munnar is named so because of a fascinating natural phenomenon that you can experience firsthand when you visit. This picturesque spot is situated by a lake, surrounded by hills and lush greenery.
Here, if you shout or clap, your voice travels across the landscape and bounces back to you from the hills. The echo you hear is clear and resonant, a playful reminder of nature’s wonders. It really works and we tried it!
The reason for this auditory experience lies in the geography of the location. The shape and alignment of the hills around Echo Point are such that they create an acoustic environment perfect for reflecting sound waves back to their source.
This natural amphitheater makes it an ideal spot for you to test and enjoy the echo phenomenon, giving Echo Point its distinctive and literal name.
