My Review of Blossom Hydel Park
Recently, I had the chance to visit Blossom Hydel Park in Munnar with my husband and our four-year-old son. We went on a warm, sunny morning, expecting a serene experience amid the lush settings that the park is famed for. The park itself is undeniably beautiful and offers a peaceful environment ideal for some relaxation, especially towards the evening.
However, our experience didn’t quite match up to the idyllic image. Yes, my son had a blast playing on the standard park swings and slides, but you get those in any ordinary park. What I was really hoping for was something that stood out, something more than the usual, especially given the Rs. 80 entry fee per adult, which felt steep. And that’s before the additional parking fees!
From what I’d read in some older Google reviews, the park used to offer boating and kayaking in the lake. Unfortunately, those activities are no longer available. While there is a zipline and a fish spa, these come with extra charges too. In my opinion, if you’re looking for ziplining, there are other places in Munnar that offer more dramatic views and potentially better value.
It feels like every special activity in the park costs extra on top of the entry fee, and I really wish that wasn’t the case. I believe that your entry fee should cover more than just the basics—it should give you access to most of the park’s offerings without constantly having to reach for your wallet.
That said, if you have young children, they’ll likely enjoy their time here, oblivious to the costs. The park is a great spot for kids to play and enjoy some outdoor time. And if you find yourself with some free time in the evening and are looking for a spot to just relax and soak in nature, the park does serve as a beautiful backdrop.
Key Features
As you step into Blossom Hydel Park, you’re immediately greeted by its stunning natural beauty. The lush greenery and beautifully manicured gardens are soothing to the eyes, offering a picturesque setting that feels like a step into nature’s embrace.
Wander through the paths and you’ll notice charming animal sculptures and well-pruned shrubs, each element meticulously designed to enhance the park’s aesthetic appeal. Don’t miss the “I Love Munnar” photo point—a perfect spot for a memorable snapshot to capture the essence of your visit.
For those visiting with children, the park offers a fantastic kids’ play area that’s sure to be a hit. Your little ones can enjoy a variety of playground equipment, including swings, slides, and seesaws. It’s a safe and fun environment where they can play and make new friends, giving you a moment to relax and watch them have a wonderful time surrounded by the park’s natural splendor.
Photography enthusiasts will find plenty to love here too. The sculpted shrubs and playful animal figures offer unique photo opportunities, turning every angle into a potential masterpiece. Whether you’re an amateur or a seasoned photographer, you’ll find that the park’s features provide plenty of inspiration for your photography pursuits.
If you’re looking for a bit more excitement, the zipline across the park offers an adrenaline rush along with a unique view of the surroundings. For a more soothing experience, try the fish spa— it’s an unusual, relaxing activity that both soothes and entertains.
Other Amenities
When it’s time to take a break, head over to the cafeteria within the park. It’s the perfect place to grab a refreshment or a light meal, allowing you to recharge amidst the serene environment. Before you leave, don’t forget to stop by the gift shop. It’s stocked with souvenirs that capture the local culture and beauty of Munnar, ensuring you have a keepsake to take home or gifts for friends and family.
Essential facilities such as clean toilets are strategically placed throughout the park, ensuring comfort and accessibility wherever you are. Additionally, scattered across the park are numerous benches, providing ample opportunities to sit back and soak in the serene atmosphere.
Is Blossom Hydel Park Worth Visiting? Wrapping Up
After spending a morning at Blossom Hydel Park, it’s clear that the park has its charms and drawbacks. While the natural beauty and well-maintained playground provide a perfect backdrop for family outings and relaxation, the additional costs for activities and amenities might be a consideration for some.
If you’re visiting with young children, Blossom Hydel Park could be an enjoyable outing as kids tend to find joy in playgrounds regardless of the setting. However, for adults or those looking for something unique to Munnar, the park might not offer enough to justify the costs involved.
It’s a nice place to wind down if you find yourself with some spare time, but you won’t miss much if you decide to skip it, especially if your itinerary is packed with other exciting Munnar activities.
